Transferring, Additional Membership or Reinstatement

Transfer or Additional Membership
If you are already registered as a CEng, IEng or EngTech with the Engineering Council through one of the approved Professional Engineering Institutions (PEIs), you can apply to transfer your professional registration to IExpE at the same registration level.

Alternatively, you can apply for additional Professional Registration membership with IExpE, while retaining your existing registration through your current PEI.

Reinstatement
If your IExpE membership has lapsed, or you have failed to pay your Engineering Council annual registration fee and have subsequently been removed from the Engineering Council Register, you may apply to reinstate your professional registration for up to three years from the date your registration ceased.

If your IExpE membership has lapsed, you will first need to reapply for IExpE membership before you can begin the process of reinstating your professional registration.

If more than three years have passed, you will be required to complete the full professional registration application process again.

Application Requirements
To apply for transfer, additional membership or reinstatement, you will need to:

  1. Make payment of the application fee – £120.00.
  2. Completed Transfer / Additional Membership / Reinstatement Application Form
The form must include a statement and signature from a suitable sponsor.
  3. Your CV should provide a clear overview of your career history, with the last five years covered in detail. It should demonstrate your technical experience and the maintenance of your engineering competence in accordance with UK-SPEC. Applicants should clearly signpost evidence within their CV against the relevant UK-SPEC A and B competencies.
  4. CPD Record
A record demonstrating a minimum of 12 months of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  5. Future Development Plan (FDP)
Details of your planned CPD and professional development activities for the next 12 months, including reflection on the value and effectiveness of your planned activities.
  6. Proof of Identification
A colour scanned copy of either your passport or driving licence.
  7. Application Fee
Payment of the £120.00 application fee (including VAT) for transfer or additional membership.
  8. Engineering Council Registration Fee
If your application is successful, the applicable Engineering Council registration fee will also be payable. The fee will depend on whether your application is for transfer, additional membership and reinstatement.

Assessment Process
You will not normally be required to complete a new competence statement, as your existing professional registration has already demonstrated the required level of competence.

A further interview is also unlikely where a detailed and comprehensive application has been submitted. However, the Review Panel must be satisfied that you continue to maintain your professional competence as an Explosives Engineer.

It is therefore important that your application provides clear and current evidence of your ongoing competence, professional development and engineering experience. Where necessary, the Review Panel may request additional information or supporting documentation before reaching a decision.
